Comedy is like a drug
I am not quite there yet but, the improv training that I have received at the Upright Citizens Brigade helped me to get out of my mind. Not just on stage, but in my life. I have literally spent an entire day just siting and thinking about possible actions I could take to make my life be what I want it to be.
It’s harder for me to be more active in my life because I am the only audience member. On stage, rather, I know I’m under the spot light and there is a room full of people expecting me to take some sort of action.
For me, improv is like that clear pill in the movie Limitless with Bradley Cooper. Once my body absorbs it, I become able to pull from every life experience, every book I’ve read, or every ad I’ve seen and somehow use that information to accomplish virtually anything.
So I guess what I am saying is that once I fully absorb improv, I will then be able to become the president of the United States.
